Ronny Chieng

Ronny Chieng was born on 21 November 1985 non-primary source needed is a Malaysian comedian and actor. Chieng is currently a senior correspondent on The Daily Show on Comedy Central and creator and star of the sitcom Ronny Chieng International Student which premiered on ABC (Australia) as well as Comedy Central Asia in 2017. Chieng was the son of an Malaysian Chinese family. He was born in Johor Bahru. Chieng was brought up in Singapore as well as the United States. He lived in Manchester, New Hampshire, from 1989 until 1994. Chieng appeared in a comedy festival that took place in Melbourne, Australia in 2013 together with Trevor Noah. Chieng was invited to audition for the Daily Show's reporter role two years later. He was named one the 10 Comics to watch by Variety in July of 2016. In October of 2016, Chieng appeared as a guest on The Daily Show to react to an Jesse Watts Fox News segment that many believed was racist. Chieng expressed his opinion with a lot of expletive concerning the segment of the Fox News, the conservative network. He also revisited New York City's Chinatown, where Watters have mocked the residents and conducted interviews more respectfully in Mandarin and Cantonese. The video went viral and was covered by the Washington Post, Slate, as well as other media publications. Chieng was a Singapore Sea Scout when he was a young teen. While he's been living in Australia for more than a decade, he doesn't possess a permanent residency nor citizenship in Australia. In the year 2018, Chieng made a joke about being an apologist on the Daily Show however, he later stated in an interview that he was "100 per cent not scared of dogs".
