It was the 1968 Democratic Convention and there was a casting call for a movie with many characters for youngsters who disrupted it. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC, went to the auditions in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon was not selected, even though he had previously studied acting. His wife Susan was offered a role as Susan Compton. Susan Compton is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the movie Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)who is a bigot who works as an assembly line worker and who is a collector of guns.Five years later, Sarandon made the film which cult classic fans have come to recognize her as Janet who is entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). More than 15 years after making her debut, Sarandon was finally active in a campaign for a great role, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), travelling at her own expense from Rome from Rome to Los Angeles. She stated "It was such a great script... it did away with many myths and challenged America's notion of success". "When I arrived I spent a bit of time with Kevin Costner, kissed some in the studio, and then was back on the plane". Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) acting as a support actor was her first love. He had two sons by 1992. This placed Sarandon in a difficult position. Sarandon would leave her home to take on the most challenging roles.
